April 10th - Training Day

After eating a delicious meal last night at Metro! in Roanoke in celebration of Salli's M.S. defense, I woke to construct a breakfast with eggs, bacon, and biscuits (Salli's creation). This was more than enough fuel to power me from my house to Blacksburg for the International Street Fair where I took advantage of some more delicious food!

I am getting used to the commute ride to/from Blacksburg and today I saw my second biker on the route (first out in the boondocks near my house). The spring weather in Blacksburg has been amazing this year - in the past week the pear trees have flowered and the red bud trees are popping out everywhere.

Needless to say, this makes my training rides easier. Today's vitals: typical commute of 29 miles, max speed of 35 mph, average speed of 15 mph, and an energy snack consisting of a pack of peanut M&M's (tear'n share size). The M&M's held true and only melted in my mouth, not in the pack. It will be interesting to see how they hold up in July in southern Utah!
