Today I rode into to Blacksburg from my house - what a great day for riding! It was a little warm outside, temperature high of 88 degrees, so I was very glad to have three water bottle holders on my bike. After an extremely snow filled winter, Virginia has finally become green and the colors are radiant! My ride is now filled with green trees encircling the back roads.
Today's tidbits: ride of about 30 miles, max speed of 36 mph, and average speed of 15.1 mph. Additionally, I ate a Pecan Pie Larabar after about an hour of riding at my typical stop on Mud Pike Road - near the Heritage Place subdivision for anyone familiar with Christiansburg.

The commute that I ride is not typically filled with many cars. The majority of the traffic is on Mud Pike Road and Cambria Street in Christiansburg. That being said, it was certainly important enough to stop in downtown Cambria to consider the following: Will the world end in 2012? You might be thinking what in the world does Ben think about while riding, but you will be glad to know that this thought didn't just pop into my head...it kind of appeared!
(The sign reads "2012 Countdown to the End of the World??? Tonight 7 PM")After passing through Christiansburg and pondering such a revelation, I hit the Huckleberry Trail to find the Bike the US for MS team out taking advantage of the weather for some quality training. I rode past Dan Catlin who was also wearing last year's BUS4MS jersey and riding a sweet Raleigh Sojourn and caught up with Carmen Ledesma and her sweet new Windsor Fens to ride the final 2.5 miles into Blacksburg.
