Day 6 - Troutville, VA to Blacksburg, VA - 42 mi

Day 6! Bike the Burg! 42 mile ride! Rest day tomorrow!

After an inspiring talk from a gentleman living with MS in Troutville last night (who rode with us from Troutville to Blacksburg today!), the first official Bike the Burg got underway this morning. Three brave souls from Blacksburg ventured to Troutville for the entire ride while many others either drove or biked to the Catawba General Store.

Joining me today from the general store were my mom, sister Molly, and friends Matt Swenty, Jon Emenheiser, Amy Villamagna, and Aarnes Gudmestad. The ride into Blacksburg was highly successful as everyone destroyed one of the steepest hills to date on the trip - riding up Harding Ave into the burg.

We cruised down Harding Ave to end at the newly renovated farmer's market in Blacksburg and some delicious food from Marilyn Cavell (among others) and frosty beverages at Champs Sportsbar & Cafe.

The day ended with a delightful shower at my parents house and thoughts of possibly using the hot tub tomorrow on our rest day. I suppose I will have to keep my still intact blister out of the scalding water - might be painful!

Plans for tomorrow include stocking up on some more riding snacks, letting folks at the Bike Barn take a look at my ride, running a few more errands, and talking to my lovely wife for more than 30 minutes! For some more entertainment check out the first episode of BUS4MS on YouTube.
