Day 7 - Rest Day - 0 mi

Last night, talking about the trip with Salli, I mentioned that it felt a little like I was cheating because I was ferried up to my parents house via car and got to sleep in a bed, shower, and sleep in! Total hours of sleep = 9.5 hours overnight and a 1 hour nap today. One of the more interesting things about this rest day was the fact that I was still starving all day - in Blacksburg I took advantage of Sub Station II for lunch (the most delicious subs around) after a yummy Little Debbie zebra cake and some chocolate milk for a mid-morning snack.

Today's rest day agenda included the following:

- Stopping by the Bike Barn in Blacksburg to have some minor issues with my bike serviced and to pick up an extra set of brake pads for my disc brakes.

- Driving through the bank to get out some more cash for the next week of travel.

- Checking at Dick's Sporting Goods in Christiansburg, VA for some running shorts on sale (no luck) thinking they might be cooler than the OR shorts I bought through our Pro deal.

- Hanging out at the structures lab for a hour or so to talk with Brett Farmer, Dennis Huffman, Dave Mokarem, Adam Bowland, Kacie D'Alessandro, and Bike the Burg participant Jon Emenheiser.

- Calling Chantilly Lace in Blacksburg to confirm my tuxedo measurements for the marriage of Steven Denbow and Lizzy Hoppe in August after my bike trip!

Two final things were on my agenda today. First, taking advantage of the time at my parents house to hang out with my two dogs (Roka is in the front of the picture and McGee is in the back) for one last time before seeing them again in August:

Second on my agenda was to attend the BUS4MS cookout at Mason Cavell's house for a dinner including hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, salad, potatoes, and ice cream sandwiches. I also had a few home brewed beers left at my parents house courtesy of Jeremy Stovall (PhD student in Forestry at VT) to enjoy with my food.

Tomorrow we are riding much of the same route that I had been doing during my typical commute to Blacksburg while training for the trip. Hopefully I will catch a glimpse of William and Liam Collins somewhere around downtown Cambria in Christiansburg!
