Everyone awoke at a normal time this morning (no one peaced out mucho early) in high spirits after our death march through the desert yesterday due to the fact that we had a 50 mile ride in store.
The first 25 miles of our trip included a bunch of climbing and some fairly annoying headwinds. This definitely slowed down most of the group and made us very excited to only have one more 25 mile leg in store. At the first stop, I refilled on water and hit up one of my new creations: a cinnamon raisin bagel, both sides slathered with peanut butter, and some trail mix filling (almonds, peanuts, M&M's, cashews, raisins, etc.) loaded in between.
The days ride was definitely highlighted by some more beautiful views of canyons and red rock pillars/buttes. The two pictures below capture some of the canyons that we rode past. Make sure to find the sweet arch bridge in one of the pictures!

After arriving in Hanksville, the team went directly to Stan's Burger Shack where I was able to find a double cheeseburger, fries, and a delicious chocolate milkshake. We then rode downtown to check out the local campsite around 1-2 pm...it was a no go!
The temperature was getting close to hitting 105-108 degrees Fahrenheit and the nearby hotel sounded like a wonderful option! We are currently stacked 4-7 deep in hotel rooms for the night hitting up some TV and extremely crucial AC.
